Day 30: Supersonic

This is a picture of an F-18 in transonic flight.  This happens when there is just the right amount of water vapor in the air such that the shock waves cause the water to precipitate.  The condition lasts only for an instant and when the supersonic flow exists completely around the aircraft, sharp-angled sonic cones replace the normal shock waves.
