Again, looking back on things that were happening last year, here is a photo of the Michael Jordan statue outside of the United Center during the Stanley Cup playoffs of 2010. The statue was adorned with hockey skates and a Towes jersey to cheer on our beloved Blackhawks.
Day 163: Melancholy
If there was one word to describe this photo, melancholy is it. This poor rhino was very sad that his friend was on the other side of the wall from him and all he wanted to do was be with him.

Day 162: As The Eagle Soars
In Rememberance of Pearl Harbor, this monument was dedicated by The Pearl Harbor Survivors Association of Illinois. It is located in The Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Inscribed with the following:
“In Memory of those 2403 Gallant Americans who perished in the service of their country on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu, December 7, 1941. A day that will live in infamy. ‘He’ bore them up on eagles wings.”
Day 161: Remembering Last Year
This time last year, the city of Chicago was getting ready to head out in an 80 degree day in hockey jerseys to cheer on the Blackhawks brought the Stanley Cup to Chicago. With ticker tape falling from the skyscrapers, the crowds cheered on as the busses drove by carrying the players by.
Here are a couple photos taken from the Field Museum of the brontosaurus right outside sporting a hawks jersey and overlooking the city.
Day 160: Foggy Skyline
As I am sure you know if you live in the city of Chicago, it’s a foggy night out already. I just love the way the fog engulfs the city…leaves the city with an erie feeling. This photo was taken of the skyline with the fog rolling over the skyline. A wonderful view from the Adler Planetarium.
Day 159: Anniversary of Blackhawks Win
Can you believe that it has already been a year since that amazing day when Patrick Kane could be seen throwing off his gloves and celebrating the winning goal that claimed the Blackhawks title as Stanley Cup Champs? I can’t. But in rememberance of that win just 1 year ago today I thought I would post a photo I got while celebrating in the streets of Wrigleyville.
Day 158: Breakwater
Day 157: Hungry Hungry Hippo

Day 156: Chicago Ave

The John Hancock building taken from Chicago Ave.
Day 155: Lake Point Tower
Lake Point Tower the only major private structure on the lakefront side of Lake Shore Drive and likely to remain that way for the foreseeable future, given the city’s prohibition on building on the lakefront. Developed by John Heinrich and George Schipporeit,
it was completed in 1968, is approximately 645 feet (197 m) tall, and was the tallest apartment building in the world at that time.

Because of its height and the fact that Lake Point Tower sits on the shore of Lake Michigan, the residential skyscraper had to be designed to withstand the high winds. At the center of the building is a triangular core that is 59 feet across in length, which contains nine elevators and three stairwells. This core also holds all of the vertical weight of the building. Because of this, the perimeter pillars on the facade do not need to be large as they only have to bear the vertical loads.
