The columns on the Trump Tower.
Considered the “Jewel” of the city, the gleaming white Wrigley Building is one of America’s most famous office towers. Located on Michigan Avenue on the north bank of the Chicago River, at the southern-most point of Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, the Wrigley Building consists of two towers connected by an open walkway at street level and two enclosed walkways. The walkways between the towers were added at the ground level and the third floor. In 1931, another walkway was added at the fourteenth floor to connect to offices of a bank in accordance with a Chicago statute concerning bank branch offices.
In anticipation of another pre-season Blackhawks game today, I decided to post a photo of the silhouette of Seabrook that I got while at Training Camp.
GO HAWKS!
The Trump International Hotel and Tower. Also known as just the Trump Tower, stands 1389 feet tall, which makes it the second tallest building in the U.S. after the Sears Tower. It opened in early 2008 and construction finished in late 2009. The building is host to a 4-5 star restaurant, Sixteen (located on the 16th floor), 339-room hotel, condos and retail space with a parking garage.
This is the metal truss framework that supports the glass roof canopy spanning over the outdoor eating area in the River Plaza between the Trump Tower and the Wrigley building. It also happens to be outside of a McDonalds.
The Wrigley Building’s clock tower. The giant two-story clock in the south tower features four dials, each 19 feet, 7 inches in diameter. Each dial has an hour hand that measures 6 feet, 4 inches and a minute hand that is 9 feet, 2 inches long. These clock hands were originally made of redwood, but were recently refashioned in aircraft-grade aluminum to increase their durability. Because of its multiple dials and prominent positioning, people coming from all directions use the clock to check the time.

The SCOTT Firefighter Combat Challenge® annually attracts hundreds of U.S. and Canadian municipal fire departments at more than 25 locations and is now expanding to countries around the world, including New Zealand, Germany, Argentina, Chile, and South Africa. The Challenge seeks to encourage firefighter fitness and demonstrate the profession’s rigors to the public. Wearing “full bunker gear” and the SCOTT Air-Pak breathing apparatus, pairs of competitors race head-to-head as they simulate the physical demands of real-life firefighting by performing a linked series of five tasks including climbing the 5-story tower, hoisting, chopping, dragging hoses and rescuing a life-sized, 175 lb. “victim” as they race against themselves, their opponent and the clock.
The Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge took place in Tinley Park on Saturday September 24, 2011.
Yesterday was the Blackhawks first preseason home game. In celebration of their first win, with many more to come, I wanted to post a picture that I got from training camp.
